3rd meeting of ICT Ministers of ECO Member States will be held in Tehran on 12th and 13th of July, 2023
3rd meeting of ICT Ministers of ECO

In this meeting and during various sessions, the Ministers, the heads of delegations, and other participants will discuss the latest developments in the scope recognized by the “2025 ECO Regional Strategy for Information Society Development 2025”, also the future horizon of the organization, and the mechanisms for regional integration in the field of ICT

The ECO Region shelters more than 460 million inhabitants and expands over 8 million square kilometers of land, connecting the north to south, south, and east to the west, Asia to Europe, and Eurasia to the Arab World. Since its early years of establishment, transport, and connectivity have been on the top of the ECO agenda. By adopting the ECO Vision 2025 in March 2017, the ECO is now mandated to ensure the realization of the relevant expected outcomes envisaged, including in its digital economy and ICT affairs.

ECO’s first Ministerial Meeting on Information and Communications Technology and Telecommunications was held on 11-13 November 2012 in Tehran. The second meeting was held in Baku on the 4th of December, 2017. But the world has changed to a great extent since 2017. In particular, the Covid 19 and recent developments in Artificial Intelligence have brought on a seismic and profound shift in the field of ICT. This highlights the necessity for ECO members to gather together for the third time and take stock of these developments and their impacts on the region
